"For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn?" Does someone know which novel that quote is from? There are books considered classics, then there is Jane Austen! She ranks as one of the best Authors for me and many others. Her stories are captivating, and her quotes are legendary. I have to admit I haven't read to many of her books, but am aware of most of the stories she has written. At the moment I am reading Emma. That is my favorite of Jane Austen's works. Sense and Sensibility would be a close second and of course the ever famous Pride and Prejudice is third. How well do you know Jane Austen? Here is a quiz of some of my favorite quotes and you must guess the book. They will either be from Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, or Persuasion. Post your guess in the comments, and add your own favorite quotes as well :) I will then write the correct answers. Here we go:
."It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."
."The one claim I shall make for my own sex is that we love longest, when all hope is gone."
."... but if you observe, people always live for ever when there is any annuity to be paid them..."
.“Silly things cease to be silly if they are done by sensible people in an impudent way.”
."If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more."
."You could not have made me the offer of your hand in any possible way that would have tempted me to accept it."
