Closer, Closer, and STRIKE!!!

Just because I haven't been bowling for years is no reason not to go now! And so I tried, attempting to perfect my technique and maybe getting a strike.

I went bowling with my dad and sister, my mom being away for the week. We all had such great fun!!!
As well as us three, there were ten other friends from Kilchzimmer who were there. We had rented two lanes, and yes when we threw our balls they did stay on our lanes :) Ok, our lanes and the gutter but hey no one is perfect!

My first game was not so good, I call it a practice run. The second time I did really well for me!

I even got a strike!!!! YAY!!!

I am sure I'll get back there some time soon and have more practice with bowling till I become the unbeatable champion!!!

Not Just Any Tuesday!

Did you know today was Pancake Tuesday? Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of lent. The reason for eating pancakes is because pancakes contain sugar, eggs, milk, and many other ingredients that are given up during lent; therefore, they must be used up. It is considered a sort of last feast before lent. So get out your whipped cream, powder sugar, chocolate sprinkles, bananas, lemon juice, and whatever else you can think of and enjoy your pancakes :) And thank you to the friend who reminded me of this day!

Skiing, Falling, Laughing, and Having Fun!

(click here to view an album of fun filled pictures)

Snow, wonderful snow, perfect for building snowmen, skating down the street, throwing at your sister, and of course, skiing! And what better way to ski but with a group from church, all going on our annual church retreat in Lungern! To get in an extra day of skiing, my family and two others arrived Thursday evening at the hotel Domino, different from that game with the dots on little blocks :P We all spent Friday skiing, and for me, learning to ski correctly. The weather was not all that perfect, a fog higher up but that did not keep us from having lots of fun.

Friday evening the rest of the group arrived and a very merry group left for skiing again on Saturday which had gorgeous crystal clear blue skies. More learning with skiing for me, but I have to admit I did improve quite a bit and am thankful for everyone who was patient with me and gave me all those helpful tips. I could minimize my falls and increase my speed. Though I did have one impressive whip out when I decided to go straight down part of a hill to catch up my speed for going up the hill at the end but one of my skis caught on something which threw me out of control and diving head first into the snow, my legs flew in every direction and my skis went in another, yay for skis that come off on their own! Amazingly I managed to walk away with only a few bruises. The day ended and my legs felt like they were made of gummi, which is a sure sign that I did something right in skiing. The rest of the day was spent in fun conversation and VERY energetic games of dutch blitz.

Sunday was spent in packing, a church service, more packing, eating, eating dessert(yes, we all love to eat!), and then leaving. Time seemed to have flown past, where did the weekend go? It was very sad to leave as I watched that familiar place fade into the distance knowing it was the very last time I would ever go there... but it is a pleasant memory to keep with me!
