My Funny Valentine

Happy Valentines to everyone! What a perfect excuse to have a party :) We invited a few friends from Kilchzimmer (where my dad works) and we spent and evening in Valentine celebrations. Our cupid for the night had to pin as many people as possible with cloths pins while we all wrote a funny valentine story, advertised a piece of chocolate, and ate heart shaped pizza. What better way to end a party then with dessert and a movie.

Lungern, I'm Back!

My church's annual retreat to the ferienhaus (holiday house) domino, situated in the small town of Lungern, is one of the highlights of my entire year. This year my family arrived a day early to get in an extra day of skiing. It was perfect weather though not as good quality snow as I would have liked but the view down the valley was breathtaking! My entire family, except Mom, spent the day skiing and I tried new slopes but ended up spending more time falling then skiing, or at least it seemed that way. When we arrived back at the ferienhaus, we were soon joined by all the other church members who came. I shared a room with my friend Karina and of course we didn't get much sleep the whole weekend :)  Karina, it was lots of fun :)
We all went skiing again on Saturday. The good news was that it had snowed, that bad news was that it was so foggy, skiers couldn't even see the new snow. But still, a little fog wont stop determined skiers, ok perhaps it was more then a little fog. So we set out, up the gondola, and onto the fog filled slopes. After a few runs down a smaller hill I joined a group of church members to go down a longer slope. Part way down the slope my ankle hurt where I wasn't able to ski properly, though I still don't know why, and I had to have a ride down on the back of a snow mobile :) It was even more fun then skiing down! My ankle was alright in the end but still I had to return back to the ferienhaus for the rest of the day. Though I didn't ski again, I still spent a fun day full of games and other activities.

All good things must come to an end and so must the retreat. There was a sermon Sunday morning, then our last meal before everyone packed up and left. Until next year!

Ready, Steady, GO!!!!

The event was a scavenger hunt, the mission was to find and take a picture of as many things on the list possible in the time frame and having a team member included in each picture, the time frame was one and a half hours. And so our youth group, divided into two teams, were off running throughout the streets of Basel searching for such object as pyramids, non-swiss license plates, and people walking dogs. That was only a few of the things we had to take pictures of, also on the list were some things to be filmed. On a bridge we did leap frog, in front of the rathaus we did ring-around-the-rosies, and we even had to get a stranger to yell. The other team had enough time to sing publicly and actually received some money for their lovely rendition of itzy bitzy spider. At three o'clock both teams had a race down the street to our meeting point, a truce was called and we casually walked the rest of the way. We ended the day with snacks as we viewed all our pictures and counted up points, my team lost by two points, but we both had an equal amount of fun.
