What Did You Say?

"For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn?" Does someone know which novel that quote is from? There are books considered classics, then there is Jane Austen! She ranks as one of the best Authors for me and many others. Her stories are captivating, and her quotes are legendary. I have to admit I haven't read to many of her books, but am aware of most of the stories she has written. At the moment I am reading Emma. That is my favorite of Jane Austen's works. Sense and Sensibility would be a close second and of course the ever famous Pride and Prejudice is third. How well do you know Jane Austen? Here is a quiz of some of my favorite quotes and you must guess the book. They will either be from Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, or Persuasion. Post your guess in the comments, and add your own favorite quotes as well :) I will then write the correct answers. Here we go:

1."It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

2."The one claim I shall make for my own sex is that we love longest, when all hope is gone."

3."... but if you observe, people always live for ever when there is any annuity to be paid them..."

4.“Silly things cease to be silly if they are done by sensible people in an impudent way.”

5."If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more."

6."You could not have made me the offer of your hand in any possible way that would have tempted me to accept it."

Here We Go Again...

My first Judo tournament of the year took place over an hour away in Morges, the longest running judo rankingturnier in Switzerland. I remember my first few tournaments when I had watched the older people greeting almost everyone they past and I wondered how they can know so many people. Well, this time I was one of those people who could greet the other competitors :) o.k. perhaps there was only one other girl from my weight category I talk with, but hey it looks impressive :) So anyway, after the longest wait I ever had in a tournament I finally came on but lost after twenty-one seconds. At first I was extremely disappointed, I did not even get a chance in a "hoffnungsrunde" or hope round, where if my opponent won her next fight I get a chance to fight the loser. But then, as I chatted with my friends from my club I soon found out just about every person that came lost on their first fight and so we had conversations such as this: "I lost after 21 seconds." "Really? I lost after a minute." "Wow, congratulations!" And in the end, since everyone was feeling disappointed, no one felt disappointed, a strange sort of irony. Though I did not win, I will keep smiling and say as I always say, "I'll just keep practicing and do better next time!"

I Have Returned Muahaha!

Happy New Year my faithful blog readers! I hope you all had a wonderful fun-filled Christmas :) I have spent my two week Christmas holiday at home with my family and friends. Heather was home for Christmas, YAY!!! That was the best of my Christmas presents. Then came New Years as we all welcomed in 2010 with shouts of joy and "We can go to bed now!" But holiday cannot last forever and too soon school began again, a week later Heather left. But she did not leave before we managed to squeeze in a picture taking session. Here are the results of that:

Now, let us begin the adventure that the year 2010 has to bring!!!!
